The LSF supports students pre K-12th and their families through academic services and informational outreach.

The Latino Student Fund (LSF) was founded in 1994 to address disparities in access to education for underrepresented students in Washington, DC, and has since served more than 11,000 youth across its programs. We provide opportunities for a strong academic foundation for underserved PreK-12th grade students and their families to promote higher education and professional leadership. Through year-round, out-of-school-time programs for low-income, at-risk students and their families we can increase levels of educational attainment in the community.

What We Do

The Latino Student Fund (LSF) helps at-risk students in PreK-12th grade and helps first-generation students get into college. It also helps families become strong advocates for their children.

BUILD A STRONG FOUNDATION

The greatest strength of our work is the ability to involve the entire family in our programs. By educating families through English classes, school workshops, and computer training, we make learning accessible for every generation and increase levels of attainment in the community.

PROVIDE AN EARLY START

Our initiatives work in concert to encourage a college-going culture from a young age. We provide programs for students starting in pre-school to help combat the short and long-term effects a lack of culturally and linguistically appropriate resources have on a child’s academic potential.

SUPPORT THE FUTURE

Our programs don’t stop once students graduate high school.
We create a network of peers and mentors, to promote higher education and professional leadership, that our students can rely on. We become family, whether it’s their first year of middle school or their first year of college.

Our Impact

PreK-12th grade students enrolled in the Access program receive application assistance for independent and parochial schools

Students previously enrolled on the Scholars program are yearly recipients of independent and parochial
school scholarships

PreK-12th grade students enrolled in our Tutoring programs receive one-on-one help in math and literacy on Saturday mornings

Students in 9th and 12th grades from Listo and Te Guio benefit academically from weekly college preparation and support sessions.
