WHAT IS THE LISTO PROGRAM?
Listo is a free after-school college preparation program for students in 11th and 12th grades, providing academic support, individual mentoring, and practical guidance as they prepare for life after high school.
Through weekly workshops, college visits, team-building activities, and connections with college students and career professionals, participants explore their interests and build the skills to make informed decisions about their future. Students receive support throughout the college application and financial aid processes, from researching schools and scholarships to reviewing admissions decisions and planning their next steps.
Listo takes place after school throughout the school year. Students can also schedule an appointment at LSF’s Resource Hub for additional support and access to Wi-Fi, academic support, and snacks. Contact LSF for current Resource Hub and drop-in hours.
What Students Can Expect
- Get support researching colleges, organizing deadlines, preparing applications, and writing personal statements.
- Learn how to find scholarships and complete financial aid applications, with guidance for students and families.
- Participate in study hall and workshops that strengthen study skills, time management, essay writing, and classroom success.
- Seniors connect with mentors for encouragement and guidance throughout the college application, scholarship, and enrollment processes.
- Meet professionals, explore career pathways, and discover how different educational options connect to their interests and goals.
- Visit campuses, connect with current college students, and build supportive relationships with peers.
Why Listo?
Planning for college can bring questions about applications, costs, academic options, and what to expect once students arrive. Listo helps students and families navigate these decisions with accessible information and ongoing support.
Financial literacy workshops help students and families understand college costs, budgeting, scholarships, grants, and student loans. Bilingual workshops guide seniors and their families through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS Profile, where applicable. Students can also receive help reviewing admissions decisions and financial aid offers as they consider where to enroll.
By connecting students, families, mentors, and schools, the program helps participants build confidence and take practical steps toward their education and career goals.
